Embodied relational awareness in all human interaction to support or facilitate our own and others skills in creating the world we want to live in.

Reflexive practice in relation to others, as part of professional work. What does it mean / how do we do it: to include embodied, affective and attentional resources as central aspects of societal / professional / personal work and development.

Relational practice – talking and listening with high sensitivity, awareness, and creativity. Practicing a shared emerging process in relationship, letting themes / meaningful arcs arise in the weaving of our threads during talking. Talking from an awareness of what I am sensing bodily: my body is my guide in what is happening in the group. Letting messages from the body inform the group of processes that might be happening, and also let them contribute to what emerges. Also a way of very honest relating, and a potentially transforming practice, as articulating what is happening before words transforms it, and creates a new “before words” that might be articulated.

Inner-outer flow…? It seems like there is a lot of focus on either one (inner development) or the other (developments of systematic change…? technological/political/one-solution-fits-all type of developments) and there is a need to connect the first person experiences and needs with systematic-level transformations. The body, for me personally, was always the site for connecting both. In the biological level- we are dependent and connected to the environment, in the social level- we reflect each other’s muscle tone and are deeply affected by embodied information. In our group, I found that this connection is made possible, we are reflecting both on the inner emergence of feelings and sensations in the context of the interaction, while also attending to the group’s needs and flow and many times universal themes come up (such as politics, sustainability issues).
Introducing that multi-level connection to other teams or collaborative contexts that work on real problems and trying to figure out solutions (peace work, sustainability, disruptive technologies and science), I believe, can make a real positive change and ripple out/ extend out of our context into other spaces. 

Expressing what is happening in the moment, without planning what will be said. Listen to inner impulses and talk from this place. Focus on observing the body and others, and how they all interact and change. Practice thoughtful group interaction.

Where are we now?

An idea to do something with our relational work in leading such processes within our own group and in other groups that (to me) is vague and concrete at the same time. A concrete wish and vision, but it stays in the background somehow in terms of activity levels.

In our own group we could put into practice more the noting and articulating what we are sensing in the body as a measure for what is happening relationally between us, but we have identified it as something we want to do, and have started doing it more. 

I think on some level we are working with difficulty, but we have not made it explicit. I sense though that we are probably all finding certain things (not identified here by me because I don’t know what they are for each of us) difficult. So I am sensing a sensing of difficulty in each of us, but I feel we are not addressing it yet, really. To me this level is very interesting. But I sense we are still scared (perhaps) to approach it. We do have the capacity and the group work insights to do so, so that is also where we are now, that we (I think) are ready to embark on this too. I do feel that as a basis for this work, we need to talk about what we would agree on in terms of safety, confidentiality, privacy etc. 

Regular meetings between us: a meeting place, a ‘groupscape’, a practice of thinking and experiencing together.

I feel we are in a transition phase from being to doing. At the beginning I think we felt ok with just being and practicing aware/enactive group interaction, and now there is a wish to enact with the outer world and presence ourselves outside.

-Many skills that I feel we can share even more, for example I would love to hear more about the MP interviews that Willeke just mentioned that she felt great about.
– A structure that works, we all agree that there is something special about it.
– Some plans that we didn’t follow: leading interchangeably, writing, conference… thoughts of how to make this sustainable on the financial level?
– Shared writing practices
– We have started to open up to being more vulnerable and open about struggles within the group. 

I feel like there is a need for decisions/agreements, but I am not sure on what?…

What is in place now that supports our movement towards that vision?

Individually, my professional tasks at the moment challenge me to develop tools for inner development in professional contexts (workshop exercises, workshop days) and to build a role and way of working in support of that (how to introduce myself, form effective collaborations with researchers or practitioners in the field, and client-service-provider relations with participating organisations and individuals). I also gather experience working as a facilitator.

As a group, we plan to write together – and are currently building a habit of reflective writing during or after our meetings. We want to write an article that describes our approach and experience with it, as well as insights we gained from it. We also want to experiment with facilitation / turning our weekly meeting into a place where we (develop together? and) try out workshop modules that implement our approach, to enrich our practice and prepare ourselves to bring our approach into other groups / spaces.

Strong relational skills and a highly developed sensitivity towards group processes. Enormous resources between us – unique for each of us and similar (all of our academic expertises; some of our creative expertise; our contemplative experience, awareness/sensitivity and expertise. Our knowledge about relational bodily processes, our deep understanding of enactive processes in nature and in human relationships. Also educational expertise in many or even all of us, so we have all the capacity we need to create programmes/workshops/sessions and lead them. And experience leading groups in most of us!

We are doing some research together, based in micro-phenomenology, to make our processes explicit. This will help us move towards offering things to others.

We meet weekly and practice interacting. We also are naming our processes and our intentions as we go.

We bring perspectives from our unique backgrounds (most basically [from website]: knowledge and training focus in neurological processes, contemplative education, and interdisciplinary inquiry – but each of us could name these more personally)

We recognize commonalities and differences and are interested especially in unveiling or developing awareness of difference (for this a growing edge – a way enactive processes are organically impacted – we want to make them visible). Revealing what is not visible is one of Gregory Bateson’s purposes of science. Another is changing one’s own understanding. A third finding threads that run through all domains or better said: discovering patterns across domains.

Where do we experience conflict and how do we deal with this conflict? (How) do we address conflict in our meeting? Do we share it when we experience difference/disagreement/upset? Conflict may exist in a difference in views, a feeling that a personally felt or jointly agreed basic need is not met, experiencing some sort of lack of trust, feeling that a boundary has been crossed, feeling disrespected.

We are reflecting on ourselves, our wishes, difficulties, limitations, strengths. We have high capabilities to communicate all of these things.

Attending is supportive of the process, keeping the fire alive every week is important even if not all of us attend the meetings every week. (as we just discussed). In addition  we have

Where do we want to be going? (or something)

To me it feels like we have a little work to do between ourselves in dealing with difficulty (articulating it and doing relational work around it, so do it more explicitly than we have been doing) before we can move on to working with groups. Perhaps we still have a little work to do around trust, address this explicitly. Or if we are afraid of addressing things (anything!) then we have to address the fear together first. If it feels threatening, what is happening there? I may be wrong but this is what I am sensing.

I would like to move towards creating some sort of module together, like we have been discussing a while back now, also with Maor present and very much wanting to do so.

We want to practice a way of working that involves / attends to / makes space for difference(s). Multi-voicing.

Where we want to be going is maybe also an area where we experience difference. So we could work with this in addressing what we want and the possible differences in that, and practising in making space for these differences at the same time.

We had plans to:

2. Create a module

3. Write a paper

4. Look for opportunities we could contribute as a group

5. Investigate how this work can be financially sustainable.
